The Baie des Rois awarded "Meilleur project - Infrastructures sustainables" at the Africa Investments Forum & Awards AIFA

Libreville, February 08, 2023 - The Facade Maritime of the Champ Triomphal (FMCT), through the project of the Baie des Rois, was awarded the prize for the best sustainable infrastructure project for its eco-responsible approach, at the AIFA forum, on February 7.

Every year since 2017, AfricaInvestments Forum & Awards (AIFA) has brought together all leaders of African private and public companies for a panel and multiple conferences. The opportunity to discuss investment opportunities in different strategic sectors on the continent including infrastructure.

It is on this aspect that the FMCT, a subsidiary of the Gabonese Sovereign Wealth Fund (FGIS), aims to develop a sustainable and responsible space, concerned about climate issues through the implementation of innovative infrastructures.

Because of its geographical location and its nature as a maritime city center, the Bay of Kings also aims to be an attractive pole of Central Africa and a regional reference of eco-district. Since the FMCT took charge of the project, the Baie des Rois has developed on a first area of 12 ha, fully serviced, opposite the Jeanne Ebori Hospital.

 

Currently, under construction:

· Three (3) buildings on the North Zone of the Bay of Kings, two (2) of which have an Excellence in Design forGreater Efficiency (EDGE) certification, in order to reduce the environmental footprint in direct energy consumption, water consumption and the use of building materials such as wood;

· Maritimeravaux for the realization of platforms reclaimed from the sea, on the area of PortMole and the old fair;

· A Waste water Treatment Plant (WWTP) that will treat and recycle wastewater by eliminating pollutants before they are discharged into nature.

Emmanuel EDANE, Director General of the FMCT said: "This prize is the result of a vision begun more than thirty years ago by Gabon, that of being a green power with a low-carbon vocation on the continent and beyond, supported today by the highest authorities. The recognition of this project would not have been possible without all the employees, men and women, committed to the development of a better living environment for future generations."

In total, more than 300 workers are mobilized on all the above-mentioned works around the Baie des Rois.
